Biography

Bristol, U.K. singer-songwriter Goodrich is flying the flag for brilliant, classic songwriting in the tradition of Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, or David Bowie. His dark, intense, and romantic lyrics are delivered with a voice sometimes hushed and intimate, sometimes soaring and plaintive, all over lush, inventive arrangements and virtuoso guitar playing. He has performed all over the world, from his native Canada to London, Paris, New York and everywhere in between, leaving a trail of glowing reviews and enraptured audiences. His brand new album, ‘The Last Bastard’, is the epic result of 20 years of songwriting, and brings together some of England’s finest musicians. His lead single, ‘Over The Limbo’, has received lavish praise from the likes of Rufus Wainwright, who called it ‘deeply touching’, and BBC’s Sarah Walker, who declares Goodrich to be ‘a monumental talent’. Canadian folk legends The Be Good Tanyas call Goodrich their ‘favourite unsigned British artist’. Goodrich was a fixture of the Montréal music scene, often performing at the now legendary Casa di Popolo. He regularly played and collaborated with Rufus and Martha Wainwright. In 1999, Goodrich played bass for Wainwright at the packed stadium opening of the Experience Music Project in Seattle WA, alongside Beck and Annie Lennox. In 2003, Goodrich landed in Bristol U.K., where he opened for Amy Winehouse at her debut Louisiana show. Together with Kate Stables and Jessie Vernon of This Is The Kit, in 2005 he formed the Four Shores, recording an EP and touring England. Goodrich is also a regular guest singer with the Paris-based Fantasy Orchestra, performing sold-out tributes to Bowie, Leonard Cohen, Nina Simone, and many more. In 2017, Goodrich wrote and produced ‘Blood Monster’ a special benefit project for the Stop Trump Coalition, featuring Clive Deamer of Radiohead, Adrian Utley of Portishead, Stew Jackson of Massive Attack, Kate Stables of This Is The Kit, and many more. ‘Blood Monster’ appears as a bonus track on 2022’s ‘The Last Bastard’. Goodrich regularly contributes vocal performances to film and tv soundtracks for Geoff Barrow and Ben Salisbury, including the award-winning FX series ‘Devs’. Goodrich is a long-time collaborator with Portishead’s Jim Barr, who produced and performed on ‘The Last Bastard’. Goodrich’s range of talent is immense, whether it’s singing, songwriting, guitar playing, producing or collaborating. He is keeping the fire for great songwriting and musicianship well and truly burning.
